Not Your Grandma's Nightgown
Photography by Meg Niemann | @MSNPhotography
The plaid maxi dress has been one of my favorite trends this season! I love to refer to this trend as “granny chic.” It really does bring back memories of having sleepovers at my grandma’s house with all my cousins and always seeing my grandma walk around in her plaid nightgown! (lol sorry gummy!)
This look couldn’t be more perfect for the colder months because it’s long enough to keep you cozy warm, but still super cute and stylish! I bought the dress I’m wearing above from Zara, but I linked a bunch of other options as well! One of my favorite prints to match has always been leopard and plaid. There is something so fun about mixing the two very distinctly unique patterns! To be honest, I truly believe they compliment each other flawlessly!
We shot this look on the terrace of an Upper East Side apartment. I love taking advantage of shooting at different locations in the city. Anytime someone offers their apartment or restaurant I try to always take them up on it! The weather has been frigid in NYC lately so being able to run onto the terrace for a few minutes and then run back into the warmth is ideal! There is something so special and raw about shooting in the natural light that my photographer Meg and I can’t seem to give up, even on the coldest of days!
What are your favorite patterns to mix and match!?
