Via Quadronno + HK Award

I loved shooting this look because my photographer Meg and I shot uptown around one of my favorite restaurants, Via Quadronno. Via Quadronno, a restaurant and paninoteca, is the perfect stop after a visit to one of your favorite museums or on the way home from a long day.

VQ is a staple of New York City’s Upper East Side. It’s probably one of the best people watching places in New York. Steeped in Milanese traditions, Via Quadronno is famous for their mouth watering Paninis, but also for our unforgettable cappuccinos and scrumptious homemade pastries.

The name of Via Quadronno comes from a little street in the Porta Romana District in northern Italian City of Milano. For locals, the name brings back memories of legendary proportions because in the late sixties some “very special” panini’s were being prepared by a young former baker named Guiseppe Tusi at the “Bar Quadronno”. These panini’s became such a sensation that even the most upscale clientele, including glamorous regulars from Galleria del Duomo and San Babila, could not resist visiting. In 1983, Giuseppe Tusi left Bar Quadronno and opened his own paninoteca named “Bar Crocetta”, located in Largo della Crocetta. The then quite established Giuseppe Tusi came with us to America in 1999, as a consultant, to help start Via Quadronno in NYC and the rest is history! (https://www.viaquadronno.com)

I love looking up the history to my favorite spots in NYC! VQ will always be one of my favs, but I am really excited to explore other hot spots to share with you!

Pizza Beach + HK Award

This award goes out to my favorite pizza place in NYC, Pizza Beach! Pizza Beach has strong focus on market driven, daily fresh ingredients and a menu that caters to vegans, vegetarians and locavores alike.

Wood oven fired pizzas, house made pastas and healthy mains brimming with seasonal ingredients anchor the market driven menu alongside a 40 bottle wine list, all priced at $48 and a full bar with a fun signature cocktail list!

The vibe at Pizza Beach is almost as amazing as it’s food. The restaurant calls it “New York meets Malibu” with its unique 90s-retro beachside café vibe, lively with strings of lights draped from the wooden rafters and hanging ferns, cast open French doors and a summer al fresco cafe. Be it snowy or sweltering out, it's always, always sunny at Pizza Beach!

Black Tap + HK Award

This award goes to the very famous Black Tap restaurant down in Chelsea. If your looking for a great place to grab a burger and shake in NYC this is definitely your place! ... What’s a good Halloween without some sweets?!? Am I right? Although, there were soooo many milkshakes to choose from, we eventually settled on the sour and cotton candy shakes and they were AHHHHHMAZING!!!!  As you can see from the pictures we literally went after them with our hands!

Tartine + HK Award

This Treat Me Tuesday goes to one of my favorite spots in the West Village, Tartine. Tartine, a French bistro located on 253 W 11th St, is a 20- year- old bakery serving the tastiest small dishes and tartines all in a friendly neighborhoody atmosphere. Although, you can’t make a reservation here I promise the wait is worth it. You really feel like you are transported back to the old NYC “village days” …. Even though I wasn’t alive back then LOL I like to pretend I was … And be sure you grab a fresh merengue to go on your way out J

The West Village is probably the BEST people watching in NYC. The style in the village has always been laid back cool, so I wanted to wear an outfit that was more understated than some of my usual looks, but still me! I wore the most comfortable pull over sweater from Design History paired with my three-year-old Pookie and Sebastian skort that I am OBSESSED with!!! I had to top this look off with my Stuart Weitzman Lowland boots which you will be seeing a lot more of now that it’s finally cold! These boots are a pricy, but Marc Fisher and Schutz both make similar pairs that are more affordable. I love over the knee boots because they really give you that extra warmth needed in the colder months. Look out for more looks with Design History sweaters coming soon!

Where are your favorite places to go in the West Village?

The Bowery Market + HK Award

I wanted to shoot this look at The Bowery Marker because it is so freakin’ cute!!! The Bowery Market is a uniquely designed open-air food market in the heart of Noho. The exceptional collection of small restaurants sit on a rare, corner property formerly used as an auto mechanic shop. Each restaurant expresses its own distinct identity while the market pays homage to the industrial history of the site. If you haven’t yet been to The Bowery Market, it’s a must! It’s a perfect place for take out on the way home from work, or a great spot to stop for a quick nibble on a Sunday Morning. My personal favorite is the taco stand! I die for the homemade guacamole! :)

Who has been to The Bowery Market?

Mud Coffee + HK Award

This post starts “Treat Me Tuesday.” Treat Me Tuesday will be part of the Honestly Awards! TMT will be a post put up every Tuesday featuring a restaurant, café, or bakery that I love in a certain area of NYC. This will be a place where I will talk about my favorite dessert items at a cafe, drink specialties for the season, appetizer at a newly-opened restaurant, etc. I wanted to start TMT with one of my favorite coffee shops on the Lower East Side, Mud Coffee. Mud is actually where I first met my photographer, Meg Niemann! … Mud is really special to me because it was there that Honestly Kate really hit the ground running!

Mud has three locations in New York City! The first location is the Mudspot Restaurant located at 307 East 9th Street. Mudspot serves brunch all Day, selected wines and specialty Craft beers, and Dinner in a world-kitchen-style with the finest ingredients from NYC’s Market Place crafted freshly per order. The second location is the MudPark (my personally fav) located on 75 East 1st Street. It is so fun to have a coffee shop in a little park on the LES! It makes coffee meetings so much more fun! The third Mud Coffee location is the Mudtruck located near the Astor Place subway stop. If you haven’t been to any of Mud’s three locations go now!!! Mud couldn’t be cuter, and I PROMISE you wont be disappointed in their coffee either!

Ruby's Cafe + HK Award

This is the second week of Treat Me Tuesday (TMT), and I couldn’t be more excited to talk about two of my favorite spots in my hood! The first spot is Ruby’s Café. Ruby’s is another Australian spot in NYC that has completely captured my taste buds! Ruby’s has had a location in Nolita for a couple years now, and has recently opened up in Murray Hill on 442 3rd Avenue. I no longer have to make the trek to SoHo for my coconut craving. This Aussie space is a quaint little white box decorated with the Beverly Hills palm trees…What could be better than that?!... The menu is quite extensive. There is something for everyone including Panini’s with Italian cold cuts, pasta Bolognese, salads with roast pumpkin, baby spinach, and chevre in a balsamic dressing etc. “For homesick expats, Ruby’s is also one of the few places in town to get a true-blue Aussie burger—ground beef mixed with finely chopped peppers and onions, then topped with a fried egg, beet slices, and roasted pineapple.” (Sarah Gold) Murray Hill desperately NEEDED a Ruby’s, and I couldn’t have been more excited when it opened! It’s perfect to meet for a lazy Sunday brunch, or to take out a delicious dinner during the week.

Speaking of things that Murray Hill desperately needed…. Trader Joe’s FINALLY opened!!!! I have been counting down the days for Trader Joe’s opening since I moved into the city. This location is particularly amazing! So far, the line hasn’t been too crazy, and they are constantly restacking their famous cookie butter! PSA: I’m completely addicted to the cookie butter!!!!

For Love Of Lemons: Mia Dress

The third Honestly Award goes to For Love of Lemons dress that I have to say is the “IT” dress of the summer. For Love of Lemons was derived from the sun-soaked "Lemonade Stand Days", of designers, owners, and BFF's Gillian Rose Kern and Laura Hall. For Love of Lemons was designed in their hometown of Jackson, WY and has since evolved into a true lifestyle brand with the additions of their lingerie and knitwear collections. Gillian Rose Kern and Laura Hall have a unique eye for design, For Love & Lemons has created styles that are recognized instantly. They are consistently raising the bar with custom made lace and engineered placement embroidery - For Love & Lemons designs stand out in the crowd.

Their studio is based in Los Angeles, and everything is designed right there.

The dress I’m wearing above is called the “Mia Paneled Mini.” This stunning peach number was designed on a beautiful rayon crepe with intricate embroidered tulle detailing and contrast inset trim. The tie detailing and revealing tulle panels will have you on cloud 9 all day. Don't worry about a slip, this baby comes lined!

Although this dress is a little bit pricey it is definitely worth it! This dress is timeless and can be worn so many different ways!

Marc Fisher: Adalyn Espadrille Wedge

The second Honestly Award goes to the Adalyn espadrille by Marc Fisher! These are definitely the most perfect summer wedge. I have lived in them the entire summer so far. Not only are they beyond flattering and cute, but they also couldn't be more comfortable.... and I NEVER say that about wedges! Another plus about the Adalyn wedge is that they look exactly like the Chloe "Isa" wedge but they are a quarter of the price!.... No-one loves a deal more than me!

I've worn these wedges with everything from jean shorts and a t-shirt to a Ramy Brook dress as styled above! These shoes are almost sold out so get them before they're gone!

Look out for more awards!
